Voluntary workshop exchange option for 2-3 students per workshop. Please ask more if you are interested. \nWhy discounts? \nWe believe the practice of yoga can heal the world\, both on and off the mat. We have witnessed the wisdom contained within the tradition of yoga for both individual self- transformation and collective\, societal progress. In this spirit\, we recognize our aspiration for our yoga spaces to feel welcoming and warm for anyone who wishes to take practice. We continually contemplate how we can make our yoga spaces safer\, welcome and more accessible to all\, regardless of race\, gender\, ethnicity\, caste\, sexual identity\, class\, age\, nationality\, immigrant status\, disability etc. \nOne way we aspire to live by our yogic ideals is around economic accessibility. Yoga should not be a luxury only for those who can afford it. Yoga must be made accessible\, both economically and culturally\, for those who most need it. Based on our individual social locations and whether these identities are proximal to\, or distant from\, power and privilege\, we recognise that institutionalized oppression\, visible and invisible\, recognizable or hidden\, affects how some people are seen\, heard and valued in society. How some are afforded rest and ease and others are not. \nHow some can breath with peace. \nAnd how\, for others\, their breath gets stolen from them\, both literally and figuratively. \nWe wish to balance the scales. \nStarting with our circle of influence in our yoga space. \nIf you identify as more than one on the list above\, please choose the tier that is most essential for you to tend to. We recognize that some of you may embody multiple\, intersecting identities of marginalization\, and would be eligible for multiple discounts. We also acknowledge that there are several more intersections not mentioned that require care and equity. While we aim to extend as much community care out\, we must also protect our energy output and ensure our livelihood and needs as a family are also honored. \nFor those who embody social locations close(r) to societal privilege and power\, this is an invitation to be in active solidarity with others who move through society differently than you. We are sensitive to the fact that life is hard for us all. Being human is hard. However\, there are many experiences that are facilitated for one based on any number of factors\, and having privilege often means that we don’t need to notice the ways structures are set up in our favor. We invite you to pay the full price with a generous spirit. Equity\, meaning everyone getting what they need\, for those who have enjoyed privilege might sometimes feel like oppression. \nIn this moment\, breathe\, slow down and tend to yourself with care and honest accountability. \nFannie Lou Hamer is known to have said\, “Nobody’s free until everybody’s free.” We are all needed to get where we need to be\, as an inter-species. Let’s start embodying this interdependence and interconnection with one another. \nSide by side. \nBoth on and off the yoga mat. \nMay all beings get what they need to be well\, cared for and tended to. \nMay our actions bring us one step closer to making it so. \nPayment Options: \n1. Bank transfer (most recommended) \nAccount details: \nTo: \nYoga Roots Odeceixe\, LDA \nBank: Credito Agricola \nNIB: 0045 7021 40370695571 12 \nIBAN: PT50 0045 7021 4037 0695 5711 2 \nBIC/SWIFT: CCCMPTPL \nMessage: \nOdeceixe May 19-24 2026\, Your Name and what you are paying..Full program/Only Mornings/Weekend etc. \n2.  Cash payment to Petri or Wambui before the first Yoga class \n3. Bank transfer (most recommended) \nAccount details: \nTo: \nYoga Roots Odeceixe\, LDA \nBank: Credito Agricola \nNIB: 0045 7021 40370695571 12 \nIBAN: PT50 0045 7021 4037 0695 5711 2 \nBIC/SWIFT: CCCMPTPL \nMessage: \nOdeceixe May 12-17 2026\, Your Name and what you are paying..Full program/Only Mornings/Weekend etc. \n2.  Cash payment to Petri or Wambui before the first Yoga class \n3. Yoga mats and blocks are available. Anyhow we recommend bringing your own mats to keep good hygiene and make sure that you have a mat which you like. \nNext to the yoga shala there is a mini market\, bakery and our Chai park where you can sit under the local “holy” tree and sip your well deserved Chai tea (or herbal tea). Wambui is giving Chavutti Thirumal (massage by foot press) treatments and Petri is giving Energy healing / bone setting treatments. Please let us know if you are interested and we can book a time. \nSmall Yoga Shop downstairs by the office we are selling local natural products. \nOur Teaching method: \nWe follow and respect the Ashtanga Vinyasa system as taught by T. Krishnamacharya and K. Pattabhi Jois\, but are aware the harm their teaching method have caused. \nWe center each individual practitioner and their unique needs and capabilities. We do not follow a dogmatic\, ‘one size fits all’ approach to the Ashtanga method. Our aim is for healing\, both the physical and spiritual; acceptance and freedom. We’re open to discussing your individual Ashtanga practice and find ways how the method can be customized for your needs. Please feel open to sharing anything with us which might affect your practice at the moment (i.e. injuries\, childbirth\, etc). \nPhysical Adjustments + Informed Consent: \nWhile the assumption in the Mysore room is that people come for physical adjustments\, we practice asking for permission before physically adjusting you. Consent is crucial and non-negotiable. If you’re happier not to be physically adjusted during your asana practice\, we respect this choice as well. We will check in on a regular basis regarding consent to being physically adjusted. Some days you may want to be adjusted and other days not\, and we welcome this. Feel free to be yourself and find your own way to practice Ashtanga. We are here to help you in your yoga process. \nOur Big Why:\nWe believe the practice of yoga can heal the world\, both on and off the mat. We also understand yoga to contain wisdom for both individual self- transformation and collective\, societal progress. In this spirit\, we are survivor-centric and survivor-oriented\, and abuse\, sexual assault\, and discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. This is a caste protected space and we do not subscribe to casteist beliefs or practices. We recognize our aspiration for our yoga spaces to feel welcoming and warm for anyone who wishes to take practice. We continually contemplate how we can make our yoga spaces braver and more accessible to all\, regardless of race\, gender\, ethnicity\, caste\, sexual identity\, class\, age\, nationality\, immigrant status\, disability etc. Our workshop follows braver space guidelines. \nMental Health Disclaimer:\nYoga can be an effective and beneficial tool for reaching a more peaceful state of mind\, managing stress better and getting physically well. Our workshops and retreats are designed for people with normal physical and mental conditions. If you are on medication\, are currently taking (or have taken) therapy and/or counseling\, or have any known mental condition(s) that would in any way hinder your participation in a workshop or retreat\, please inform us\, as well as your doctor/therapist before registering. We do not provide any specialist therapy or counseling at our workshops/retreats who would be able to help\, should the need arise. If a student’s behaviour causes disruption for other workshop participants and the teachers\, he or she will be requested to stop participating in the workshop and to seek appropriate help. Estr. Nacional 1\, 8670-320 Odeceixe\, Portugal. You cannot miss it (Google maps) \nWe have all gender dressing rooms and toilet\, but we recommend you come to the shala with your practice clothes on. There is no shower at the shala. As the village is very small\, it is easy to walk to the shala wearing your practice clothes and take shower after the practice at your guest house or other type of accommodation. \nYoga Shala Odeceixe has wooden floor. The village’s coffee shops and restaurants are just around the corner for the breakfast\, hang outs and meals. \nTreatments \nPetri and Wambui are offering treatments during the workshop. In such a situation\, we do not offer refunds\, but are available to provide any documents necessary for insurance claims. \nWorkshop Fees: (including 23% vat) \nFull workshop April 14-19 with 5 Mysore mornings\, Friday’s Led class and all afternoon sessions 360 €/week \nWeekend April 17-19 with 2 Mysore mornings in both weeks\, one Led class (Friday) & afternoon sessions 220€ \nSingle classes (Mysore or Led)\, possible if there will be space in the shala 35 € \nSingle classes (Afternoon Techniques)\, possible if there will be space in the shala 50€ \nSingle class (Lectures)\, possible if there will be space in the shala 25€ \nSingle class (Pranayama or Meditation)\, possible if there will be space in the shala 20€ \nWorkshop opening and closing on Tuesday and Sunday Free of change \nCancellation policy: \nIn case of cancellation the payment is not refundable after April 3rd 2026. Bank transfer (most recommended) \nAccount details: \nTo: \nYoga Roots Odeceixe\, LDA \nBank: Credito Agricola \nNIB: 0045 7021 40370695571 12 \nIBAN: PT50 0045 7021 4037 0695 5711 2 \nBIC/SWIFT: CCCMPTPL \nMessage: \nOdeceixe April 14-19 2026\, Your Name and what you are paying..Full program/Only Mornings/Weekend etc. \n2.  Cash payment to Petri or Wambui before the first Yoga class \n3. Connecting the ancient origins of fungi and their \nrelationship to the human experience. \nDid you know that mushrooms breathe air\, drink and eat food just like we do? or better we \ndo just like they do as mushrooms have been here doing it a lot longer than us. That’s not all \nwe have in common. \nDid you know that mushrooms are genetically more closely related to humans than they are \nto plants. We share an ancient common ancestor. \nDid you know\, some of these ancestors were alien visitors to this planet\, they arrived here \nmany moons ago\, bringing with them extra-terrestrial resources and organic technology…plus the key ingredients that would permit life as we know it today on Earth? No… Curious to learn more? \nPrepare to be amazed as Darren explores the intriguing notion that humans are essentially \nmushrooms having a human experience. Don’t miss this opportunity to expand your \nknowledge and gain unique insights into the extraordinary world of mushrooms. \nDuration: 2 hours \nPrice: €20 (online) €25 (door) \nMax Capacity: Unlimited \nVenue: Fazanda Compadres \nFala Figo\, Alfambras \nPortugal \n  \nSaturday 10th \nMysore Style: Starting Times: 06:00 Group 1 // 07:45 Group 2 (if there will be more than one group) \n  \n11:00-13:30 Entheogenic Mysteries of Africa\, the Goddess and Yoga with Darren Le Baron \nFor millennia\, fungi and plant medicines have been used by Africa’s earliest indigenous \npeoples for spiritual and community growth\, though rarely discussed by modern scholars. \nMany communities across Africa still use these sacred plants in their rites of passage\, \ninitiation ceremonies\, spiritual communication\, healing\, and daily rituals. \nThis presentation encompasses both African and Diasporic cultures. Darren takes us on a \nchronological and geographical journey through time and space\, offering valuable \ninformation through academic references. He highlights correlations in symbolism and \nlanguage that reveal thought-provoking insights. \nDarren will explore the revival of the archaic feminine through mythologies and traditions that \nconnect the psychedelic experience to the Goddess mysteries. He’ll examine how these \nhave become encoded in various mythological and psychedelic rites of passage\, from the \nancient indigenous world to the present day. \nThis presentation will also delve into the ancient African and psychedelic roots of Yoga and \nits forgotten philosophy. We’ll explore ancient mythologies that link the human entheogenic \nexperience with the pathway of sacred union. Together\, Yoga and psychedelics can take one \non a journey that explores the power of the mind and the full potential of the human body\, \nleading to mystical sacred union experiences. \nJoin us for this bespoke presentation that promises to be an enlightening journey through the \nancient wisdom of Africa. Prepare to expand your understanding of human spirituality and \nconsciousness in this unique exploration of our shared ancestral heritage. \nDuration: 2.5 hours \nPrice: €20 (online) €25 (door) \nMax Capacity: Unlimited \nVenue: Yoga Roots Odeceixe \n  \n16:30 – 20:30 Afternoon workshop: The Shroomshop with Darren Le Baron \nThe Shroomshop: Mushroom Cultivation for Beginners \nCome and learn the basics of mushroom cultivation and explore various techniques for \ngrowing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. The village’s coffee shops and restaurants are just around the corner for the breakfast\, hang outs and meals. \nTreatments \nPetri and Wambui are offering treatments during the workshop. \nPayment Options: \nDarren Le Baron Workshop fees and payment methods can be found from the schedule and from his website https://www.darrenlebaron.com/events/portugalyoga  \n  \nBelow is the Yoga Roots Odeceixe payment informations for the Yoga workshop:  \n1. Bank transfer (most recommended) \nAccount details: \nTo: \nYoga Roots Odeceixe\, LDA \nBank: Credito Agricola \nNIB: 0045 7021 40370695571 12 \nIBAN: PT50 0045 7021 4037 0695 5711 2 \nBIC/SWIFT: CCCMPTPL \nMessage: \nOdeceixe April 29 – May 5 2025\, Your Name and what you are paying..Full program/Only Mornings/Weekend etc. \n2.  Cash payment to Petri or Wambui before the first Yoga class \n3. As a dancer\, bodyworker\, and somatic practitioner\, she brings over 25 years of movement knowledge and teaching to her work. She studies with Petri Raisanen and Juha Javainainen. She also studied with Oksana Gorkina\, Manju Jois\, Sharath Jois\, Eddie Stern\, David Swenson and Tim Feldman. Tamara is a practicing Buddhist in the Tibetan tradition and her teaching is informed by her meditation practice\, contemplative movement and experiential enquiries into the nature of the mind. Her route into Buddhist meditation came through dance improvisation trainings with her teacher Nancy Stark Smith\, who skilfully aligned many of the Tibetan Buddhist teachings with dance improvisation practice. Tamara maintains a body based somatic approach to meditation. Her studies in ashtanga yoga have strengthened and added to the practice\, giving a deeper understanding of the body mind\, energy\, and the healing process. Petri has been an important teacher in helping Tamara understand how to work with the subtle energies of the body and mind\, as well as helping her refine her sensing and healing skills. This background also informs her teaching in that she holds the space in a quiet and peaceful way that promotes the introspective inner sensing aspects of practice. \n    \nA seven headed Cobra shaped rock by te beach down from the resort \nPhoto by Petri 2023

SUMMARY:Ashtanga Yoga St. Cugat (Barcelona)\, Spain\, April 2-6\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:I’m happy for our collaboration with Pol and Yasmina to make the third St. Cugat workshop. Pol and Yasmina has made the shala really beautiful and their generosity and kindness are well known among the students. \nIt will be a five days intensive with Led classes\, Mysore classes and afternoon workshops. In the weekend we will gather with the students for a dinner to the restaurant or one of the parks in the town. \nSt. Cugat is a small cute town about 20 minutes from Barcelona (with fast train). Comparing Barcelona it is a peaceful town but has a charm and enough activities\, parks and restaurants to make it one of the most popular towns for the families close to Barcelona. \nWelcome to practice and enjoy the Catalan (super) friendly Ashtanga community! \nBig hugs\, \nPetri\, Pol and Yasmina

SUMMARY:YogaVolt\, Fuerteventura\, Canary Islands\, February 18-23\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:Valentina Parmigiani has built a beautiful wooden yoga shala in Lajares\, Fuerteventura. For the last two years the workshop has been amazing with many students and great activities. On the free afternoons we did a volcano walk and had a beautiful beach time. The small village Lajares has few shops and restaurants and the quality is a top level. Especially I loved the Italian bakery and local cafe / ice cram bar (how the Italians know how the food should taste?). In February Fuerteventura is still warm and sunny. The island is just stunning with moon like nature and mystic landscape. \nPlease contact Valentina for more information about the accommodation and place and check the website.. \nI hope to see you in Fuerteventura in February 18-23 2025 in the European summer : ) \nBig hugs\, \nPetri and Valentina

SUMMARY:Momo Yoga / Heidi Aemisegger\, Bern\, Switzerland\, February 14-16\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:It is my pleasure to come back to Bern in 2025. It will be a great weekend in the Switzerland’s capital city with yoga\, sauna\, river dips and great ashtanga community. I hope to see you there. \nHugs\, Petri and Heidi \nHere is the schedule: \nWorkshop Petri Räisänen in Bern \n14. – 16. Februar 2025  \nFriday 14. Feb. \n9.00 – 11.30 Aṣṭāṅga Mysore with 15 min. Śavāsana and 15 min. Meditation \n16.00 -18.30 Workshop opening: introduction to Aṣṭāṅga Yoga tradition and goals\,  \npranayama and meditation. \nSaturday 15. Feb. \n9.00 – 11.30 Aṣṭāṅga Mysore with 15 min. Śavāsana and 15 min. Meditation \n16.00 -18.30 Workshop \nThe Vinyasa technique and Asana tips for Yoga Cikitsā (1.serie) und Nāḍī Śodhana (2. series). Aṣṭāṅga yoga is a clear system which shows how to enter into\, and exit from\, the state of the asana. The Primary series is built on five different vinyasa types which are also the base for the Intermediate and Advanced sequences. Forward bends\, twists\, back bends\, poses where we lie on the back and inverted (viparita karani) asanas all have their own vinyasa types. This information will provide clarity and peace in your Aṣṭāṅga Yoga practice. \nSome people claim that the Aṣṭāṅga Yoga Guru\, Pattabhi Jois\, didn’t care about asana alignments or didn’t correct people’s ”wrong” poses. During my time with Pattabhi Jois and the book writing process\, I found that it was not that he didn’t care\, but it was about his way of seeing the students’ needs. He expected the students to show interest in the alignments and ask questions as they arose. If students were not actively interested\, they would not receive the information. To be in Mysore\, India\, and practice with him alone didn’t always give the answers. I asked many questions and got just as many answers. We will go through these answers during this workshop. \nSunday 16. Feb. \n9.00 – 11.30 Aṣṭāṅga Mysore with 15 min. Śavāsana and 15 min. Meditation \n13.00 -15.30 Workshop: “Yoga Therapy – The healing touch”  \ntechniques to understand the asana alignments\, anatomy\, and psychology of the yoga student. How to create a safe and healing environment to the yoga shala. Theory and practice. \nThis additional workshop is suitable for anyone with an interest in how the body\, mind and energy are used when healing other people by touch or giving hands-on assists in the yoga poses. We focus on observing and learning the language of the body\, mind and energy. The techniques are based on sensing and locating the blocks in the flow of energy throughout the body. Students do not need any previous experience or special skills to join in the workshop. \n

SUMMARY:Ashtanga Yoga Shala Vilnius\, Lithuania\, November 21-24\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:We started our collaboration with Ashtanga Yoga Shala Vilnius in the end of October 2021. I really loved the workshop and the students\, but also the town\, especially the old wooden villas in the city center. What a contrast with the high business skyscrapers right next to the wooden old villas. We visited the neighbor town Trakai and walked around the castle and lake. It was a beautiful time. \n \nWe will be back at the Vilnius shala on the November 21-24\, 2024 with a new schedule. Welcome to practice and enjoy with the Vilnius Ashtanga community. More info at https://ashtanga-yoga-shala-vilnius.rezeve.com/ \nWarmly\, \nPetri and Marius \n

SUMMARY:Yoga Point Utrecht\, Netherlands\, November 14-17\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Yoga Point Utrecht\, Netherlands\, November 14-17\, 2024 \n  \nLast November was my first visit at Yoga Point and Utrecht town and I really loved the shala and the perfect size of the town. The canals\, old buildings\, cafes and two surpassingly good South Indian restaurants. It is easy to bicycle around and enjoy the beauty. \nPerry Coomans has been doing a great work with the shala. The location by the canal is just perfect. From the downstairs shala (there is two shalas\, up and down) you can open the door outside and see the small waves moving in the canal and on the sunny mornings it feels like watching a beautiful slow film while practicing or teaching in the shala. \nThe workshop will be for four days. Friday morning till Monday morning. Drop in option is also available. \nWelcome to Utrecht and Yoga Point! \nWarmly\, \nPetri and Perry
